VINEYARDS
The vines of our winery cover 11 hectares in 4 locations of Smederevo Vineyards. Precisely these four vineyards, due to their characteristics, suitable soil and proximity to the Danube, are the source of the uniqueness and excellence of our wines. All 4 locations face the Danube at an altitude of approximately 100 to 150 meters. We emphasize that all of our vineyards have centuries-old traditions in vine cultivation.
In particular, we would like to refer to the location “Orešac”, for which we have documents showing there used to be a Roman fort “Aureus Mons”(translating to “Golden Hill”) on this hill
WINERY
The vineyard has an approximate area of about 4 ha and surrounds only the winery. The entire area is planted with white varieties such as:
– Smederevka approx. 1 ha
– Frankincense approx. 0.5 ha
– Sauvignon Blanc approx. 1 ha
– Traminac approx. 1 ha
– Rhine Riesling approx. 0.5 ha
VINEYARD COTTAGE
We proudly point out that we planted our first crop on this field back in 2011. Its current area is approximately 3 ha. On this plot, there is also an experimental planting of 15 varieties which is being monitored for more than ten years, based on the final results we will decide on which international varieties are plantable in our areas.
The vineyard was named Kućica after the appealing house we opened in 2015 and from which terrace we can see the beautiful view of the vineyard and the Danube.
OREŠAC VINEYARD
The vineyard, with an area of approximately 3 ha, is located on an elevated plateau, surrounded by hills with a flawless view of the Danube and the Vojvodina Plain. In the third century, Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius Probus had his fort on this hill called "Aureus Mons" – Golden Hill. The difficult period for the Roman Empire was ideal for viticulture because this Emperor was the one who allowed vines to be harvested in our region. Currently, negotiations are underway with the competent institutions regarding the opening of a new archaeological site, as well as the beginning of archaeological excavations to which we will also contribute.
PLAVINAC VINEYARD
The vineyard has an approximate area of 1 ha, but in the location where tectonic movements took place in the recent past, therefore clayey soils emerged which are extremely suitable for vine growing.
This vineyard also has a phenomenal view that extends along the Danube towards Belgrade, then the Vojvodina Plain, parts of Smederevo and the Smederevo Fortress, built by the order of Despot Đurađ Branković and his wife Jerina Branković in the 15th century, for protection against the Ottoman Empire.
